Advent for littles is all about surprise. Many of the gifts we add to each day between the 1st and 24th December symobise giving, peace and joy, lots of joy.

When my daughter was young I would create Avent for her. I used little envelopes found in a newsagency, writing the numbers on each one and pegging each one to a piece of string. Find some textured paper, tear it to become smaller. Write a note, a love note, a promise of a day out, or a description of what you love most about your darling. Roll it up and tie a bow around it.

A pressed flower, a collection of gumnuts, a tube of glue, a little bag of cloves, some paper. Each item can be added to a different date. At each reveal talk about what might come of the items. When all the items have been given, spend an hour creating nature art together. It’s a wonderful gift for you both.
