Visiting Konges Slojd in Copenhagen: Inspiration for Little French Heart’s Collection

Visiting Konges Slojd in Copenhagen was a day of excitement and wonder for my daughter who discovered the playful clothing, toys and baby gifts that inspire the collection at Little French Heart, one of Australia’s oldest and most trusted Konges Slojd stockists.

As I wandered through the cosy old streets of Copenhagen, I stumbled upon a treasure tucked away at the end of a long street…the Konges Sløjd boutique. Bathed in the morning sun, the store gleamed with yellow and blue striped awnings and a beautifully styled table display in the window – a warm invitation to step inside.

When Mum first asked me to visit the Konges Sløjd boutique and headquarters, I wasn’t sure what to expect and was a little nervous about visiting the Konges Slojd team. But the moment I walked in, any nerves quickly disappeared. The store was buzzing with life! children (and adults)  all wide-eyed in wonder at the nostalgia of the toys, decor and clothing. The atmosphere was filled with happiness and the simple joy of childhood.

The Konges Slojd boutique itself is a celebration of softness and imagination. A cosy drawing corner keeps little ones entertained, whimsical clothes line the racks, and colourful trinkets fill every corner. It’s no wonder the space is always alive with excitement.

After a small detour in the morning (I accidentally arrived at the wrong shop first), I made my way to Konges Slojd’s headquarters, where I met Josephine, the brand’s sales manager. Josephine works closely with Mum to select the latest and most loved Konges Slojd products for Little French Heart including poetic designs and new toys and clothing not previously seen in Australia.

Jospehine kindly gave me a tour of the artistic and inspiring workspace. When I asked about her favourite part of working at Konges Slojd, she said it was the “combination of the entrepreneurial spirit among the team and the inspiring story of Emilie, the brand’s founder.” Emilie, a single mother at 22, started the business and has since built it into an internationally recognised label. Josephine added that being part of the journey, surrounded by passionate colleagues, makes the company an exciting, agile place to work. She also mentioned that the first piece of clothing she bought for her son was from Konges Slojd, reflecting her personal connection to the brand.
